Dr. Lauren Rae Monteiro is a freelance flutist and teacher in the Oklahoma City area. She has performed with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and Canterbury Voices, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Jackson (MI) Symphony Orchestra, Dearborn Symphony Orchestra, and Lebanon (OH) Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Monteiro has performed as soloist with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, and the Wright State University Chamber Orchestra, and has placed in both regional and national performance competitions. Most recently, she has performed on the OCCC Visual and Performing Artist Series, and Virginia Campbell's Piano Artist series as part of the Monteiro Duo. As a music educator, Dr. Monteiro has had the pleasure of teaching collegiate courses in Applied Flute, Music Theory, Aural Skills, Woodwind Methods, Music Appreciation, and Humanities. She is currently a faculty member of Murray State College and Oklahoma City Community College, and was recently a guest lecturer in Applied Flute at the University of Oklahoma. She is also a music critic for The Oklahoman, and Director of Worship at Union City United Methodist Church. Dr. Monteiro holds a Bachelor of Music from Michigan State University, a Master of Music from Wright State University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the University of Oklahoma. She currently teaches private flute, piano, and music theory lessons out of her home in OKC.
